27 October 2023: Asha

We were lucky to catch a glimpse of Asha (in the background) and her calf Fria. It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen the two of them. Here they are standing like mirror images watching our every movement – just like we’re doing with them. While giraffe have fision-fusion bonds, which means they come together and go apart again quite regularly, mothers and their female calves tend to stay together – often for most of their lives.
